Up Close and Fermentational with Sandor Katz

Join us for an intimate evening to discuss all things fermented with none other than the fermentation revivalist himself, Sandor Ellix Katz. A self-taught experimentalist who lives in rural Tennessee, the New York Times calls him “one of the unlikely rock stars of the American food scene.” His books Wild Fermentation (2003, 2016) and the Art of Fermentation (2012), along with the hundreds of fermentation workshops he has taught around the world, have helped to catalyze a broad revival of the fermentation arts. Sandor is the recipient of a James Beard award and many other honors.

With your ticket you'll receive a fermented drink (beer, wine, kombucha) and a GYST Board to enjoy with the evening's discussion.

Fermentation Workshop with Lily Springs Farm

Join us on Monday, June 12 for a Fermentation workshop featuring Lindsay Rebhan of Ecological Design and Lily Springs Farm. In addition to learning about fermentation and making your own veggies to take home, Lindsay will be with us talking about restorative agriculture, sustainability, and how those ideas have been applied to Lily Springs Farm in Osceola, Wisconsin.

Braht Night Kick Off Party

Brah. Braaahhhh. Summer's back, and that means GYST Braht Night is returning! Join us the first Wednesday of the month from June to August for the best brahtwursts in town. We use only locally-made, old-world-style brahts from Gerhard's, and top them with our famous krauts and pickles. Throw in some fermented slaw, chips + yogurt ranch, and awesome beer and wine specials, and you've got yourself a party.

The kickoff party on June 7th will also feature fun and games on the patio, plus local beer specials. See you  there!

GYST Before Midnight

GYST will be hosting nine different wine makers from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight as they pour some incredibly rare treasures. Ticket price includes wine and snacks provided on the bar. DJ Aaron Rice will be spinning some great tunes to pair with these rare and delicious beverages. It's an event NOT to be missed!

GYST will be at the Richfield Lakewinds Co-op on Saturday, April 29 from 11am to 3pm for the Local Food Fest. This event kicks off GYST's jars being available on the shelves at all Lakewinds Co-ops. Sample our traditional pickles and check out the other amazing producers who will be there as well.

The Gateway Bug Banquet

Join us for an exclusive dining experience featuring a 4-course insect tasting menu paired with wine and beer courtesy of Tradition Wine and Spirits and Indeed Brewing Company. Insects generously provided by Entomo Farms. In attendance will be stars from the film including celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern, Kevin Bachhuber, Daniella Martin and the filmmakers, Johanna B. Kelly and Cameron Marshad.
